NLAM Announces Decision to Close

Dear Friend of No Longer Alone Ministries,

No Longer Alone Ministries (NLAM) has been blessed by your partnership in building hope and empowering individuals and families experiencing mental illness for 28 years.  During this time you have been faithful stewards of your resources in support of this ministry.  Inspired by Christ’s love, you have helped us to serve our clients well with your sacrificial giving, prayers, and encouragement.  Thank you!

We are so sorry to have to tell you that after much effort to make our services financially sustainable, we have been unsuccessful.  Therefore, the Board of Directors has taken action to discontinue the services of No Longer Alone Ministries effective March 14, 2019.

As announced in the fall of 2018 at the annual ministry banquet, the No Longer Alone Board of Directors began seeking a partner with whom we could affiliate.  Unfortunately, our efforts did not yield a workable solution or home for the ministry.

This search, however, did result in finding homes for two of NLAM’s longstanding support groups – Paths to Discovery Support Group and Family Support Group (FSG).  Paths to Discovery, the peer support group, will be operated by Faith Friendship Ministries.  The two currently operating groups will meet at Faith Friendship Villa in Mountville and at Rossmere Mennonite Church in Lancaster.  FSG will become a program of Landis Communities, where a variety of other support groups are offered.

For those clients in our REACH Mobile Psychiatric Program who are interested, we will make referrals to Community Services Group (CSG).  CSG has Site-Based Psychiatric Rehabilitation programs as well as Mobile Psychiatric Rehabilitation and Clubhouse locations and is able to bill Medical Assistance and PerformCare.

An additional community resource dedicated to improving the lives of families and individuals facing mental illness is the National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI), which has a local chapter in Lancaster County.

A service marking the end of No Longer Alone Ministries and blessing the programs as they go to new homes will occur on April 7, 2:00 PM at Rossmere Mennonite Church, 741 Janet Avenue, Lancaster, PA.  We hope you will plan to be with us for this time of sharing, reflection, and fellowship.  Your presence of friendship would be an encouragement to everyone who has shared in this ministry.

Questions and concerns can be directed to Francesca Crane, Interim Executive Director, and Nelson Yoder through the No Longer Alone office at (717) 390-4891.

Sincerely,

Nelson Yoder
Chair, Board of Directors
